Kurmin Wali Abduction: 80 Escape 86 Remain Captive

Africa-Press – Nigeria. No fewer than 80 worshippers abducted during a church service in Kurmin Wali, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, have been reunited with their families after escaping from their captors.

The Village Head of Kurmin Wali, Ishaku Dan’azumi, confirmed the development in an interview on Sunday.

He explained that while initial reports suggested that about 177 worshippers were kidnapped during the attack, subsequent findings revealed that 80 of them managed to escape and sought refuge in neighbouring communities.

According to Dan’azumi, 86 worshippers remain in the custody of the bandits.

He expressed concern over attempts by some individuals to politicise the incident, noting that affected families are still grappling with severe emotional and psychological trauma.

“Our people are going through a very difficult time, yet some are trying to politicise our suffering,” he said.

“We are appealing to the government and the military to act swiftly to ensure the safe rescue of the remaining 86 worshippers still being held by the bandits.”

When contacted for comments, the Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, Mansir Hassan, said the command would soon release a detailed statement on the incident.

“The police will issue a comprehensive report on the Kurmin Wali abduction,” Hassan stated.
