Africa-Press – Nigeria. The Kwara State government has declared zero tolerance for school bullying and other related abuses among students in the state’s educational institutions.

The government issued a warning against school bullying and other related offences involving pupils and students, as part of efforts to create a safe and conducive learning environment across the state.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Opeyemi Oluwakemi Afolashade, who was represented by the Director, Personnel, Finance and Supply, Alhaji Abdulrasheed Ubandawaki, made this known while addressing a case of school bullying that had been reported to the ministry.

The commissioner stated that the state government has zero tolerance for all forms of abuse among students, including bullying, body shaming, the use of derogatory language, fighting, cultism, illicit use of drugs, and sexual harassment, among others.

The Director of the Child Development Directorate, Hajia Idiat Alabi, noted that there have been several reported cases of pupils and students harassing one another; hence, the state government is issuing an official warning against such acts.

She further stressed that related cases can be reported to the ministry at the Child Development Directorate, reiterating that the mandate of the ministry is to protect the rights of children and ensure their total well-being.
