Africa-Press – Nigeria. The Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, Adekimi Ojo, has carried out additional security measures to ensure a peaceful and secure festive season for Christmas and New Year celebrations in the state.
The additional measures were contained in a statement by the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Adetoun Ejire Adeyemi, in Ilorin on Thursday.
According to the spokesperson, “The command has deployed police personnel to strategic communities, critical infrastructure, markets, worship centres, motor parks, and major public spaces across the state.
“Joint surveillance and intelligence-sharing operations are ongoing to maintain vigilance and deter any security breach,” the spokesperson disclosed.
The command further warned that the use, sale, and distribution of fireworks, bangers, and other explosive devices remain strictly prohibited.
The statement explained that the items can cause panic, trigger false alarms, and serve as a cover for criminal activities, adding that “offenders will be arrested and prosecuted.”
The spokesperson asserted that the restriction on motorcycles (Okada) and tricycles (Keke Napep) between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. remains in full effect because the regulation continues to play a crucial role in reducing nighttime crimes and enhancing community safety.
The command urged members of the public to remain calm and go about their lawful activities without fear, as it remains fully committed to maintaining peace and the security of all residents throughout the festive season and beyond.
“Any information relevant to public safety will be communicated promptly through the official command channels.
“For distress calls or reports of suspicious activities, please contact the Kwara Police Control Room via: 08125275046 or 0703206950,” the spokesperson added.
