Africa-Press – Nigeria. Lagos State Wastewater Management Office, LSWMO, has sealed a property located at No. 229, Moshood Abiola Way, Ijora, for allegedly discharging untreated sewage directly into public drains.
The action, carried out on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, followed findings that the indiscriminate waste disposal was causing environmental pollution, creating a public nuisance, and posing serious risks to human health.
Tokunbo Wahab, Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, disclosed the development on his verified X handle, describing the incident as a clear violation of environmental safety standards.
“The indiscriminate discharge of raw sewage into public drains is not only harmful to the environment but also dangerous to public health,” Wahab stated.
He urged residents to adopt proper wastewater management and maintain good hygiene practices as part of efforts to safeguard environmental sustainability.
The commissioner reiterated that acts of environmental nuisance and pollution would attract stiff penalties, including prosecution, stressing that the government remains committed to enforcing sanitation regulations across the state.
