Africa-Press – Nigeria. The Nasarawa State Police Command has announced a full-scale crackdown on the sale and use of fireworks, knockouts, and other explosive pyrotechnics across the state, warning that violators will face strict legal consequences.

The ban, which the command says remains fully in force, is aimed at curbing panic and preventing criminals from using the loud sounds of explosives to mask unlawful activities.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday and signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel, Commissioner of Police Shetima Jauro Mohammed ordered Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, tactical teams, and intelligence units to intensify patrols and surveillance in their jurisdictions to enforce compliance.

The police chief also appealed to traders, shop owners, and parents to discourage the purchase or use of fireworks, stressing that the items pose risks to public safety, especially during festive periods when their use typically spikes.

Residents are encouraged to report offenders or suspicious activities through the command’s emergency lines: 08112692680, 08036157659, 08037461715, and 07032532391.

The police assured callers of confidentiality and prompt response.

The command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property while seeking the continued cooperation of the public.
