Africa-Press – Nigeria. The Nigerian Defence Academy, NDA, and the 1 Division Nigerian Army have reaffirmed their security partnership following a high-level meeting in Kawo on February 24, 2026.
The visit, led by NDA Commandant Oluyemi Olatoye, aimed to strengthen operational collaboration and improve protection around the academy and nearby communities.
During the courtesy call at the division’s headquarters, Major General Olatoye thanked the General Officer Commanding, GOC, Abubakar Sadique Muhammad Wase, for the division’s continued operational support, particularly through the 37 Demonstration Battalion.
He said the integration of the academy into the divisional security framework had improved response to threats, noting, “We must acknowledge the visible improvements in security around the Nigerian Defense Academy.”
The Commandant further stressed that strengthened leadership and cooperation had addressed earlier security challenges, adding that “previous security gaps have been closed, ensuring the sustained protection of our personnel, infrastructure, and training activities.”
The visit was conducted in line with military tradition and also involved discussions on security operations under Operation FANSAN YAMMA in the North-West region.
In his response, Major General Wase commended the NDA leadership for its role in training and institutional support, while reaffirming the division’s commitment to continued collaboration.
He said close coordination among military formations remained essential to achieving operational success and maintaining stability in the region.
