Africa-Press – Nigeria. The Nigerian Air Force announced that dozens of members of the Boko Haram group were killed in an airstrike targeting the organization’s locations in Borno State, northeastern Nigeria.
A spokesperson for the Nigerian Air Force stated in a statement that the operation was carried out in the Yaganari area, resulting in the deaths of numerous militants, while others fled injured. He added that the airstrike led to the destruction of militants’ hideouts and the seizure of explosives and a large quantity of weapons and ammunition during the operation.
The spokesperson explained that intelligence missions and surveillance operations preceded the strike, confirming the presence of facilities and logistical centers belonging to the armed elements in the targeted area, describing the operation as a “significant success” in the ongoing campaign against terrorism, and that it “weakened the militants’ ability to regroup and move freely in the area.”
Borno State is considered the historical stronghold of Boko Haram’s activities in Nigeria, where the group has been carrying out attacks against security forces and civilians for years, despite ongoing military operations conducted by Nigerian authorities in the northeastern region.
