Africa-Press – Nigeria. The Member representing Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency and Chairman of the House Committee on National Inland Waterways, Chief Hon. Pst Ojotu Ojema FESMI, has strongly condemned the brutal killings of the District Head of Odugbeho Community in Agatu LGA, HRH Chief Anthony Adejo, Apa youth Comr. Jeremiah Danjuma, and several others, reportedly by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, when Chief Adejo and Comr. Jeremiah were ambushed and killed while working on their farms.
In a separate incident, another Apa youth from Edikwu-Oladoga community and Pastor Philip Onyejefu Oigocho from Olegodege were killed by armed assailants along the Edikwu-Ugbokpo road and in Uhe village, Loko Development Area of Nasarawa State.
Reacting to the news, Chief Ojema expressed deep sorrow, describing the murders as unprovoked and highlighting the ongoing violence in the region.
He called for an immediate overhaul of the operational strategies of security agencies, stressing the need to address the alarming rate of killings, particularly in Benue State, including the Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency.
Currently attending an official engagement in the United States, Ojema urged the Federal Government to increase the deployment of troops to rural communities, especially farms, as the farming season intensifies with the onset of the rainy season.
The lawmaker extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, praying for strength to cope with their irreplaceable losses.
