Osun Guber: Anxiety as Supreme Court hears Adeleke, Oyetola case today

Africa-Press – Nigeria. The Supreme Court is set to hear the case of Governor Ademola Adeleke and Adegboyega Oyetola over the duly elected governor and winner of the Osun gubernatorial election of July 16, 2022, today.

Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Challenging the victory at a tribunal led by Justice Tertse Kume-led, which sat in Osogbo, Adegboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress, APC, was pronounced duly elected governor against the declaration of INEC.

But the Appeal Court, in a judgment by Justice Mohammed Shaibu on March 24, 2023, declared Adeleke returned as the authentic winner.

The apex court would on Monday hear the appeal filed by Oyetola against the victory of Adeleke.

The matter has been listed for the adoption of final written addresses by the parties today.

Adeleke and PDP are cross-appealing the decision of the Court of Appeal, aligning the Certified True Copy, the legitimacy of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS, relied upon by the APC and the date on the certified true copy.

They are also cross-appealing on the issue of the co-authorship of the judgement and the validity of the tribunal judgement.
