PDP Faces Clash of Illegality and Constitutional Orders

Africa-Press – Nigeria. A member of the Board of Trustees, BoT, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Jones Onyereri, says the party is battling direct confrontation between illegality and constitutional orders.

Onyereri made this statement on Monday in an interview on Arise Television monitored by DAILY POST.

His comment is coming against the backdrop of the expulsion of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike and his allies from the party.

The PDP, during its national convention in Ibadan, Oyo State on Saturday, expelled Wike; National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu; and former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose.

Reacting to the development, Onyereri said, “The actions taken by the PDP at the convention, particularly the expulsion of members, represent a reckless and unconstitutional maneuver.

“This was not party administration; it was merely political theater. Section 57 of the party’s constitution provides a clear roadmap for disciplining members, which was not followed.”
