Police Arrest Notorious Car Snatcher in Katsina

Africa-Press – Nigeria. The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 28-year-old suspected notorious car snatcher in Katsina metropolis.

Spokesperson of the command, DSP Abubakar Aliyu, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, noting that the arrest followed renewed efforts by the police to curb car theft in the state.

According to him, on August 30 at about 8:00 a.m, information was received at the Anti-Kidnapping Unit that a black Toyota Corolla 2019 model, robbed from the residence of one Sunday Solomon of the Federal Housing Authority, Lugbe, Abuja, had been traced to Katsina.

“Upon receipt of the information, detectives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit swung into action and successfully tracked the stolen vehicle to the Kofar-Kwaya area, Katsina metropolis,” Aliyu stated.

He said operatives thereafter arrested one Muhammad Abdullahi, aged 28, of Kofar-Kaura quarters, Katsina, in possession of the vehicle.

During investigation, the suspect reportedly confessed to receiving the stolen car from one Abdul, also known as Dukiya, of Malumfashi, Katsina State, another notorious car snatcher who is currently at large.

Aliyu said efforts were ongoing to apprehend the fleeing accomplice and others connected to the case.

The Commissioner of Police, Bello Shehu, commended the operatives for their professionalism and reassured residents of the command’s commitment to fighting crime.

He also urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to assist security agencies in keeping the state safe.
