Africa-Press – Nigeria. The deputy Public Relations Officer of the Cross River State Police Command, Igri Ewa said police are still combing Calabar creeks for the kidnapped Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Gertrude Njar.

Njar was reportedly kidnapped on Wednesday morning near her house in Calabar.

Ewa said in an interview: “We are combing all the creeks in Calabar South and have also unleashed the tactical forces towards the rescue of the commissioner. We have deployed our men, including the tactical teams to be on the trail of the suspected kidnappers. We cannot yet confirm the extent they have gone.”

In the meantime, Commissioner for Information, Eric Anderson confirmed that the car of the abducted government official has been found and retrieved.

Sources said security teams trailing her abductors found her shoes by the creeks.

The police spokesperson further disclosed: “We are also doubling efforts towards the rescue of Kenneth Abang from Boki LGA who was kidnapped alongside his relative, one Eunice.”

Abang and his relative were reportedly kidnapped along the notorious Calabar-Ugep highway a few days ago while they were on their way to bury their father. At least, 21 persons are reported to have been kidnapped along that road in the last two months.
