Africa-Press – Nigeria. The Benue State Police Command has intensified efforts to rid the state of criminal elements in collaboration with other sister security agencies.
The command says it has carried out a series of coordinated operations across the state under the code name ‘Operation Restore Peace in Benue State’.
The primary objective of the operation is to dismantle criminal camps, recover illicit arms and ammunition, apprehend suspects, and ensure their prosecution in accordance with the law.
This was disclosed a statement on Thursday by the spokesperson of the Benue State Police Command, DSP ,Udeme Edet.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Emenari Ifeanyi, commended the gallantry and professionalism of officers deployed to various operational areas.
“He further expressed deep condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of officers who paid the supreme price in the noble service of defending the state.
“The CP reassures the good people of Benue State that the Command remains resolute and unwavering in its commitment to fighting crime in all its forms.
“He warns individuals who sponsor or provide support to criminal elements to desist forthwith, as anyone found culpable will face the full weight of the law,” the statement said.
Edet said the general public is, therefore, enjoined to remain law-abiding and to continue to support the police and other security agencies in their efforts to rid the state of crime and criminality.
