Africa-Press – Nigeria. The Benue State Police Command has freed four kidnap victims after a fierce exchange of gunfire with abductors along the Orokam–Owukpa road in Ogbadibo Local Government Area.

The rescue operation was launched on September 25 after a distress call reported that kidnapped people were sighted near River Enumabia. The Divisional Police Officer immediately mobilised tactical teams, who engaged the kidnappers and secured the victims’ release.

Those rescued include Ogbonna Ifeanyi and Abubu Ogochukwu from Enugu Ezike, Caleb Mbah, a pharmacist from Ohebe Orba in Udenu LGA of Enugu State, and Ruth Chinemere, also from the same community.

Police sources told Zagazola Makama that the kidnappers, who had earlier demanded a ₦5 million ransom, fled with gunshot wounds, abandoning their captives.

The victims received first aid at Orokam General Hospital before being reunited with their families.
