Africa-Press – Nigeria. The Borno State Police Command has announced a restriction on the movement of tricycles across the state from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday as part of security measures for the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Daso, said residents are advised to observe prayers at locations closest to their homes to minimise movement and prevent overcrowding.
Daso said operatives of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit have also been deployed to strategic locations, including major gathering points, to conduct thorough screening of persons and items entering designated venues.
According to him, the temporary restriction on tricycle (Keke NAPEP) movement is aimed at enhancing security coordination, easing crowd control, and preventing potential threats.
He added that personnel have been deployed in collaboration with other security agencies to Eid prayer grounds, markets, motor parks, and other vulnerable locations for surveillance, traffic management, and public safety.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, has directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and other operatives to intensify patrols, intelligence-led operations, and visibility policing throughout the festive period.
Residents were urged to remain vigilant, comply with the directives, and report any suspicious activities to security agencies. Parents and guardians were also advised to monitor their children, especially in crowded environments.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order before, during, and after the celebrations.
