Resisting Unconstitutional Takeover of ADC in Kogi

Africa-Press – Nigeria. Concerned members of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Kogi chapter, have vowed to resist any attempt to hijack the party through unconstitutional means.

Speaking at a news conference on Wednesday in Kabba, the group’s spokesperson, Usman Lukman, urged security agencies to be vigilant and prevent any breakdown of law and order.

According to Lukman, credible intelligence suggested that certain individuals, alien to the party’s operations, are planning to unconstitutionally topple the ADC leadership in Kogi.

He emphasised the group’s commitment to democratic ethos and constitutional governance, vowing to resist any attempt to hijack the party through unconstitutional means.

“Let it be clearly stated that the ADC is governed by its constitution, values, and democratic ethos.

“Those who recklessly destroyed the PDP cannot be allowed to invade our party and subject it to the same fate.

“The ADC in Kogi was built painstakingly from the grassroots and nurtured with sacrifice, loyalty, and discipline.

“Any attempt to hijack it through unconstitutional means will be firmly resisted, using every legal and constitutional instrument available,” Lukman said.

He reaffirmed the group’s loyalty to Chief Leke Abejide, describing him as the “undisputed leader” of ADC in the state.

Lukman warned against recognising or associating with political opportunists and strange bedfellows seeking to destabilise the party.

He urged security agencies in Kogi to take urgent notice of the threat and act decisively to prevent any breakdown of law and order.

He also advised security agencies not to honour or provide security coverage for any meeting or activity in the name of the ADC that does not emanate from the recognised leadership, led by Abejide.

“Any such gathering by faceless impostors is illegal, illegitimate, and a calculated attempt to breach the peace and security of Kogi,” he reiterated.

He called on genuine members to remain calm, vigilant, and committed to the unity and progress of the party.

Lukman vowed that the group will safeguard ADC’s hard-earned political structure from opportunists who neither share its vision nor values.
