Africa-Press – Nigeria. Suspected Boko Haram members of the Sadiku faction, have reportedly suffered heavy losses after a fierce clash with security forces.
The Nigerian Army troops ambushed the terrorist along the Luma Banana axis in Borgu, Niger State, killing several terrorists fighters.
The incident happened in the early hours of the morning when troops, acting on intelligence, stormed the terrorist’s hideout.
According to sources, “the terrorists were caught off guard as security operatives surrounded the area and opened fire”.
The gun battle reportedly lasted for hours. Many fighters from the Sadiku faction were said to have been neutralized, while others fled into nearby bushes with injuries. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the scene.
Security officials described the operation as a major breakthrough in the ongoing fight against insurgency as the troops showed courage and professionalism during the encounter.
