Seven suspected fraudsters arrested in Jigawa

Africa-Press – Nigeria. Seven suspected fraudsters have been arrested by joint security operatives in Kankare and Zurkuda villages of Birnin Kudu Local Government Area, Jigawa State.

Spokesman of the Jigawa State Police Command, SP. Lawan Shiisu confirmed this in a statement on Saturday.

He said the suspects were arrested in a joint operation carried out on June 13, 2025 at about 1100hrs in response to credible intelligence report.

According to the statement “The coordinated operation carried out by joint security operatives comprising police, army, civil defence, DSS and vigilante led to the arrest of seven suspected fraudsters in Kankare and Zurkuda villages of Birnin Kudu Local Government Area”

The suspects are believed to be involved in various fraudulent activities across the region.

Items recovered include 461 counterfeit USD, 4 POS, 13 smartphones, 29 keypads, 2 plate numbers, a box and other documents.

Shiisu said the suspects are currently in police custody and undergoing preliminary investigation.

The Command urged members of the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to security agencies to support the ongoing efforts in combating crime and safeguarding communities.
