Africa-Press – Nigeria. Vice President Kashim Shettima on Wednesday arrived in Maiduguri for an on-the-spot assessment and condolence visit following the recent bomb blasts in the state.

The bomb attacks suspected to be carried out by Boko Haram terrorists, left about 23 people dead and hundreds injured.

Shettima’s visit was disclosed by the Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communication, Office of the Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha.

Shettima, who is representing President Bola Tinubu, landed at the Maiduguri International Airport where he was received by Borno State Deputy Governor Umar Usman Kadafur and Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan, Borno Central, alongside other National Assembly members, top government officials, and party stakeholders.

The bomb blasts occurred at Monday Market and the gate of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, UMTH, shortly after iftar on Monday.
