Africa-Press – Nigeria. A member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dickson Iroegbu, has accused Nigeria’s leadership of playing politics following the military threat of US President Donald Trump.

Iroegbu made this statement on Friday during an interview on ‘Prime Time’, a programme on Arise Television monitored.

He said, “Many of us are disappointed with the Nigerian government’s counter-narratives, which claim that Muslims are also being killed in an effort to dispel accusations of Christian genocide.

“The crux of the matter is that Nigerians are being slaughtered in alarming numbers, and we cannot shy away from this fact.

“President Tinubu’s actions suggest a lack of empathy for the unwarranted deaths that have befallen the Nigerian people.”

His accusation is coming after Trump said he had asked the Department of Defense to prepare for possible military action in Nigeria if the Nigerian government “continues to allow the killing of Christians.”

Trump had earlier designated Nigeria as “a Country of Particular Concern” by Trump over alleged killings of Christians in the country.
