AFCON 2021: Fadiga snubs Mane, Salah, picks three players who impressed him

Africa-Press – Nigeria. Former Senegalese international, Khalilou Fadiga, has picked three football players who really impressed him at the ongoing 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, in Cameroon.

The 2021 AFCON is in the quarter-final stage as Morocco will take on Egypt on Sunday evening while Senegal will face Equatorial Guinea.

The likes of Cameroon and Burkina Faso have already booked their place in the AFCON semi-final.

Cameroon defeated Gambia 2-0 on Saturday, while Burkina Faso won 1-0 against Tunisia, who eliminated Nigeria from the competition.

Asked to name the players that have impressed him, Fadiga didn’t mention Senegal’s Sadio Mane, Egypt’s Mohamed Salah or Cameroon’s Vincent Aboubakar, who is currently the AFCON top scorer, but picked Lamin Jallow, Gabadinho Mhango and John Takwara.

Fadiga told CAFOnline, “There is Jallow from the Gambia, Gabadinho Mhango from Malawi, and John Takwara from Zimbabwe.

“That is the beauty of the Africa Cup of Nations. Despite the presence of big stars, young footballers or those playing in less upscale championships manage to do well.

“This means that there is quality everywhere, and with work, African football will move forward.”
