Africa-Press – Nigeria. Egypt has become the fifth country to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals.
The Pharoahs needed extra time to beat Benin Republic on Monday night.
After a goalless first half, they took the lead through Marwan Attia in the second half.
Attia’s super effort was cancelled out by Jodel Dossou’s equalizer late in the match.
In extra time, Egypt scored twice through Yasser Ibrahim and Mohamed Salah, to seal their spot in the final eight for the 21st time in history.
They will play either Ivory Coast or Burkina Faso.
The other teams in the quarter-finals are Morocco, Mali, Cameroon and Senegal.
