Africa-Press – Nigeria. Incoming Manchester United boss, Erik ten Hag has set a target for the club starting from next season.
The Dutchman outlined the minimum expectation of the Red Devils squad he is set to inherit from the outgoing interim manager, Ralf Rangnick.
The Red Devils have confirmed that the 52-year-old will be their manager from next month and he is set to begin the seismic rebuilding job required at Old Trafford.
He has said his final farewells to his former club Ajax earlier this week and flew to London this week.
Ten Hag will be at the stands on Sunday when United finish what has been a torrid season at Selhurst Park against Crystal Palace.
Regardless of whether he lands his top targets, Ten Hag insists breaking back into the Premier League top four represents a ‘prerequisite’ for a club of United’s stature.
Speaking during his last press conference at Ajax, the Dutchman said, ‘That’s a must. The goal is to make Manchester United Europe-proof again, as we did with Ajax, reaching the Champions League with Manchester United is a prerequisite.”
