Africa-Press – Nigeria. Former Chelsea striker, Demba Ba, has named Senegal forward, Sadio Mane, as the best player in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, in Cameroon.
Ba disclosed this in a tweet via his Twitter handle on Thursday night.
Mane has scored three goals and registered two assists in six matches at 2021 AFCON so far.
The Liverpool star leads Senegal to the AFCON final after scoring a goal in his side’s 3-1 win over Burkina Faso on Wednesday.
Senegal will now face Egypt in the AFCON final on Sunday.
“Regardless of the end result in the #AFCON2021 final, Sadio Mane is for me the best player in this year[‘s] competition. #TeamSenegal #MVP,” Ba tweeted.
Meanwhile, Mane will be up against his current Liverpool teammate Mohamed Salah in the 2021 AFCON final.
Salah has been important in Egypt’s run to the AFCON final after leading them to beat Cameroon in the semi-final encounter on Thursday night.
He has contributed two goals and an assist for Egypt so far.
