Africa-Press – Nigeria. Nigerian professional footballer, Francisca Ordega, has rolled out a grassroots football clinic designed to discover and develop young talents in Benue State.
The initiative, organised under the Francisca Ordega Foundation, took place at the McCarthy Stadium and offered intensive coaching drills and technical training sessions.
Ordega personally led the programme alongside some of her international colleagues, including Super Falcons defender Ashley Plumptre.
The foundation, working in partnership with Saudi Arabia-based Al-Ittihad Football Club, targets young players aged 14 to 18, while also equipping local coaches with modern training techniques to improve grassroots football development.
The programme attracted over 100 participants, many of whom expressed excitement at the rare opportunity to train under elite professionals and vowed to maximise the experience.
For the Benue-born football icon and her international partners, the clinic represents a commitment to giving back to society by advancing women’s football and creating opportunities for young girls opportunities Ordega noted were largely unavailable to her during her early playing days.
The two-day football clinic concluded with a competitive charity match, where Charity Academy Football Club edged Invincible Angels FC 1–0 to claim the championship title.
