Africa-Press – Nigeria. The Referee Development Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has suspended Mohammed B. Tuta, Ben Japhet and Ikechukwu Taiwo from officiating in the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL.
The referee’s suspension was contained in a statement signed by Ameenu Mohammed.
Tuta and Japhet were were accused of decisions that fell short of professional standards in the matchday eight fixture between Kano Pillars and Shooting Stars.
The encounter was marred with fans violence at the Sani Abacha Stadium.
Taiwo, who took charge of the Nasarawa United vs Rangers game, was sanctioned for awarding what the Committee described as an “unjustified penalty” during the match.
The Referees Committee confirmed that all three officials have been suspended indefinitely, pending further review and retraining programs.
The Committee reiterated its commitment to maintaining integrity, transparency, and professionalism within Nigerian football officiating, warning that any referee found compromising match standards will face severe disciplinary action.
