It will be a relegation clash in the Rwanda Premier League (RPL) on Friday, April 25 at Kigali Pele Stadium as bottom side Vision FC will come up against 13th-placed SC Kiyovu.
Vision, who are at the bottom of the table (16th) with 20 points, have won five games, drawn five, and lost 14 in the 24 matches they have played so far. Kiyovu are 13th with 27 points, having won eight games, drawn three, and lost 13.
A win for SC Kiyovu would increase their chances of remaining in the top division, while Vision will also be keen to win the game as they continue to search for an elusive chance to stay in the top flight.
Vision FC head coach Marcel Lomami, who is also a former coach of Kiyovu, spoke about the importance of the game and the opportunity it gives his team in the fight to avoid relegation.
“We have a chance, and we are treating all matches like finals. We are going to push until the end. We have been working hard this week so that we can start winning,” he said.
Kiyovu’s tactician Malik Wade also counts on the game to continue fighting against relegation.
“We have resolved not to drop any points again both home and away. We can’t win only home matches. We must go away and get results to move out of the relegation zone,” he noted.
In the 2016/2017 season, Kiyovu suffered relegation after it finished second from the bottom. However, it was handed a second chance after the then promoted Isonga FC withdrew from the top flight.
