Adolphe Hakizimana Joins APR Amid Squad Reshuffle

Africa-Press – Rwanda. Goalkeeper Adolphe Hakizimana has left AS Kigali and joined Rwanda Premier League (RPL) champions APR FC on a three-year contract, as the army side continues reshuffling its squad ahead of the new season.

The shot-stopper had been linked to Police FC but opted for APR instead. His arrival comes after APR FC released six players, including Pavelh Ndzila, Taddeo Lwanga, Victor Mbaoma, Ismaël Nshimirimana, Alain Kwitonda, and Dieudonné Ndayishimiye.

Hakizimana is an experienced custodian, having risen through Isonga academy and represented Rwanda from the U-17 level. He played for Rayon Sports from 2019 until January 2024 before a brief stint at AS Kigali.

APR has also signed a number of new players, including Hakim Bugingo, Hadji Iraguha, Pacifique Ngabonziza, and Ronald Ssekiganda.

Elsewhere, Rayon Sports is close to finalising a deal with Police FC winger Didier Mugisha, who has reportedly asked for Rwf30 million to sign a two-year contract. Mugisha is seen as a potential replacement for Hadji Iraguha, who joined APR.

Rayon is also targeting BUL FC’s Ugandan left-back Nicholas Mwere, along with Senegalese midfielder Chérif Bayo (Kiyovu Sports).

Meanwhile, Burundi goalkeeper Onésime Rukundo has extended his contract with Police FC by two years, while Mukura VS is reportedly in talks with Bosnian-Herzegovinian coach Nebojsa Kapor to replace Afahmia Lotfi, who moved to Rayon Sports.
