Africa-Press – Rwanda. It was a fair weekend for Rwandan players abroad with some leagues still going on.

Winger Jojea Kwizera set up Albert Dikwa’s third goal for his hat trick as Rhode Island FC humbled Portland Heart of Pine in 4-1 win.

Amavubi skipper Djihad Bizimana was also unplayable in the heart of midfield as his team Al Ahly Tripoli beat Al Madina 1-0 on Sunday afternoon.

Times Sport takes you through how Rwandan players performed in their respective teams abroad over the weekend.

Jojea Kwizera (Rhode Island FC, USA)

Rwanda international Jojea Kwizera played 88 minutes for Rhode Island FC and set up the third goal for Cameroonian forward Albert Dikwa in the 58th minute as they thrashed Portland Heart of Pine 4-1 in the USL on Friday. Dikwa netted a hat trick before he limped off injured in the second half.

Djihad Bizimana (Al Ahly Tripoli, Libya)

Rwanda captain Djihad Bizimana was unplayable in central midfield role as his team Al Ahly Tripoli beat Al Madina 1-0 on Sunday.

Despite playing a game less, Al Ahly lead the table with 22 points. Their closest rivals Asswehly have 20 points.

Clement Twizere Buhake (Ull/Kisa FC, Norway)

Goalkeeper Clement Twizere Buhake made a series of great saves in the final 10 minutes of the game as his team Ull/Kisa drew 2-2 with Ground on Saturday.

Ull/Kisa were reduced to 10 men after Sverre Bjorkkjaer received a red card in the 83rd minute for a second bookable offense. They, however, ended the game with a point thanks to the heroics of the Rwandan shot stopper.

Phanuel Kavita (Birmingham Legion FC, USA)

Kavita was a pillar in the defense for Birmingham Legion FC who lost 7-6 to Indy Eleven on penalties in the USL Cup on Saturday.

Regulation time of the game had ended 1-1.

Hakim Sahabo (Standard Liege, Belgium)

Hakim Sahabo featured for Standard Liege who defeated Aubel 3-0 in a friendly game on Saturday. The Rwanda international spent last season on loan at Beerschot and will be aiming to cement his place back in the Standard Liege team this coming season.
