Africa-Press – Rwanda. Today, as Rwanda commemorates Liberation Day, we bow our heads in remembrance, lift our eyes in hope, and open our hearts in gratitude. July 4 is not merely a date it is a powerful symbol of resilience, sacrifice, and renewal. It marks the moment when Rwanda chose to rise, to rebuild, and to shape its own destiny.

Thirty-one years ago, our nation emerged from the unimaginable horrors of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. From those darkest days, Rwanda chose a path defined not by bitterness, but by unity; not by despair, but by determination.

Liberation was made possible by the extraordinary courage and sacrifice of those who stood firm, even when the odds seemed impossible. To those who paid the ultimate price, we remember you. To those who laid the foundation of our nation’s recovery who restored order, rebuilt trust, and nurtured the soul of our country we thank you deeply.

Today, Rwanda stands as a testament to what is possible when a people choose to move forward together, guided by a shared purpose. We have made remarkable strides in reconciliation, governance, economic development, education, healthcare, and national unity. Our cities are growing, our institutions are strong, and our people are more connected than ever.

This transformation has not been easy. It has required vision, discipline, and the unwavering commitment of Rwandans across all walks of life. But our journey is far from over. The road ahead still demands hard work, clarity of purpose, and collective effort. Fortunately, we move forward on a solid foundation one built on trust, unity, and a deep love for our country.

To the youth of Rwanda: you are the custodians of our future. The legacy of liberation is now in your hands not only to protect, but to elevate. Lead with courage, learn with purpose, and serve with integrity. Be bold enough to dream, and humble enough to listen. Our nation’s greatest achievements lie not in our past, but in the promise of what you will accomplish.

Let us all remember: the peace and progress we enjoy today are the result of sacrifice, discipline, and unity. They must be preserved not with fear, but with wisdom and through shared values, truth, and unwavering commitment to the common good.

As we mark this important day, we also extend heartfelt thanks to all Rwandans at home and in the diaspora who have contributed to this journey, and to the friends of Rwanda around the world who have walked beside us over the last 31 years. Your partnership, solidarity, and belief in our country have made a real and lasting difference.

As we celebrate this Liberation Day, let us reaffirm our dedication to the ideals that brought us this far. Let us continue to climb together with our eyes always fixed on the summit.

The best of Rwanda is still ahead.

Happy Liberation Day.
