Africa-Press – Rwanda. Rwanda is set to host the 19th African Conference of Commandants, an annual gathering that brings together leaders of Command and Staff Colleges from across the continent to advance military education, training, and strategic cooperation.
According to Rwanda Defence Force (RDF), the conference will take place from November 10 to 12, under the theme “The Future of African Military Training and Education: Bridging the Digital Divide.”
The conference aims to strengthen continental collaboration in military training and strategic thinking, while fostering research, innovation, and the integration of digital tools in military education to address emerging global and regional security challenges.
“The African Conference of Commandants provides a platform for dialogue and cooperation in shaping a more professional and interconnected African defence education system,” the RDF said in a statement.
The meeting will convene Commandants and senior representatives from African Command and Staff Colleges, the African Union Peace and Security Council, defence experts, strategic partners, and regional security practitioners.
Participants will explore joint resolutions and frameworks to enhance interoperability, harmonisation of training standards, and collective responses to continental security needs.
“Hosting this conference underscores Rwanda’s commitment to promoting continental security cooperation and advancing defence education in Africa,” the RDF added.
The African Conference of Commandants has become a key forum for building professional military leadership across Africa, ensuring that defence education keeps pace with the evolving digital and security landscape.
