Africa-Press – Rwanda. As transfer activities continue during this January window and rumours are flying everywhere, Rwanda Premier League (RPL) defending champions APR have insisted that their central defender Clément Niyigena is still an APR player, refuting reports that he is set to leave the club for Tunisia.
“We have been in close contact with our player on a daily basis, and he is still here. We have not received any request from Tunisia,” the statement said.
Niyigena had been linked with a move to the Tunisian outfit Olympique de Béja, but APR says they have not received an offer from the club.
It has been seven months since Niyigena extended his two-year contract with the military side.
APR says that there is no letter or any other action showing that the club wants him, other than what is being said in rumours.
At the moment, Niyigena is one of the key players at APR FC after performing well defensively and scoring two goals this season. He has also been called up to the national team, Amavubi.
Niyigena started his career at APR’s academy in 2017 before joining Intare FC in 2018 and Marines in 2019-2020. He also played for Rayon Sports from 2020 to 2022.
