Africa-Press – Rwanda. AS Kigali president Fabrice Shema Ngoga is set to contest for FERWAFA presidency in the elections scheduled for August 30.

The club officially announced the development on Friday, July 18 via social media.

“AS Kigali FC is pleased to announce the candidacy of Mr. Shema Ngoga Fabrice for the position of President of FERWAFA,” the statement read.

“The official submission of his candidacy, along with his team, will take place on Saturday, 19th July 2025 at 12:00 PM at the FERWAFA headquarters. We extend our full support and best wishes to Mr. Shema and his team,” it went on.

Ngoga could compete with the incumbent Alphonse Munyantwali who has been in office since 2023 following the resignation of Olivier Mugabo.

The reception of candidatures officially started on July 10 and will end on July 19, and then the vetting will take place from July 21-26. The approved candidates will be named on July 28.

Besides his role as AS Kigali president, Ngoga is the CEO of Africa Medical Supplier Limited. He has been at the helm of AS Kigali since 2018. He had retired from the position in 2023 but returned to it a year later.

Under his leadership, the club won two Peace Cup trophies and two Rwanda Super Cups.
