August 2021 CPA and CAT examination results released

Africa-PressRwanda. The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Rwanda (ICPAR) hereby releases its 18th examinations results for both Certified Public Accountants (CPA) and Certified Accounting Technicians (CAT), which were done between 23rd – 27th August 2021 at our 5 examination Centres of Kigali Independent University (ULK); University of Rwanda (UR – CBE Nyagatare Campus); University of Kigali (Musanze campus), University of Rwanda (UR – CBE Rusizi Campus); and University of Rwanda (UR-CBE Huye Campus).

There were 975 students who sat for August 2021 examinations. These were made up of 869 CPAs and 106 CATs while April 2021 sitting had 1,501 registered candidates made up of 1073 (CPAs) and 428 (CATs). This is a decrease of around 35% compared to students who sat in April 2021, and this is largely attributed to August being a new exam sitting diet and the lack of sponsorship from some existing sponsors to facilitate their students to undertake August 2021 exams.

The overall average pass rates for August 2021 sitting are 44% for CPA and 40% for CAT compared to 41% (CPA) and 42% (CAT) in April 2021 sitting. The slight increase under CPA is mainly attributable to ICPAR arranged virtual revision sessions.

A total of 18 CPA students have fully completed the CPA (R) qualification. This brings the total to 119 candidates who have completed the CPA(R) qualification and 184 candidates who have completed the CAT(R) qualification.

The institute hereby congratulates all candidates who passed their various examination papers and more specifically those that have successfully completed the CPA (R) qualification. Our commiserations to those that did not make it this time round. We again remind you that “failure doesn’t mean you are a failure … it just means you haven’t succeeded yet.”

The management of ICPAR wishes to thank commissioners, examiners, moderators, markers, security teams, invigilators, staff, and other service providers for their contributions towards a successful examinations process.
