Africa-Press – Rwanda. Christian Kanangire with his co-driver Fernand Rutabingwa, driving a Subaru Impreza, emerged victorious in the Huye Rally 2025, a three-day event held across Huye and Gisagara districts.
The rally, organised by Huye Motorsports Club in collaboration with Rwanda Automobile Club (RAC), is an annual competition held in Southern Province.
The final day of this year’s rally took place on Sunday, October 26, featuring four stages on the Save-Shyanda and Shyanda-Save routes, covering a total of 40 kilometers.

Kanangire and Rutabingwa, who had built a strong lead after completing eight stages on Saturday, maintained their momentum to finish the full 139-kilometer race in 1 hour, 32 minutes, and 43 seconds.
Defending champions Jean Claude Gakwaya and Jean Claude Mugabo finished second, 1 minute and 33 seconds behind the leaders. Queen Kalimpinya and Olivier Ngabo secured third place, finishing 4 minutes and 3 seconds behind the winners.

In fourth place were Gratien Rutabingwa and Irène Munyaneza, driving a Peugeot 106, followed by Jacques Hakizimana and Ish Kevin Semana, also in a Peugeot 106.
Ugandan duo Faizal Kayira and Duncan Katumba came in sixth, while Mike Rutuku and Alain Gasarabwe finished seventh.
Bryan Murengezi and Kevin Rusekuza completed the top eight.
Although 19 cars were expected to take part in the 2025 Huye Rally, only 15 registered, with 11 starting on the final day and eight managing to finish.
Among those who failed to complete the race were Yoto Fabrice and Axel Ruzindana, whose Subaru Impreza suffered mechanical issues on Sunday.
The final race of the 2025 season will be the Rallye des Milles Collines, scheduled for early December.
