Africa-Press – Rwanda. On 31st May 2023,Cogebanque Plc, in partnership with the Kirehe Discrict supported vulnerable beneficiaries with healthcare insurance known as Mutuelle de Santé.

The partnership between the bank and the district aims at improving the well-being of the beneficiaries as well as recognising that good health is a crucial factor in achieving a prosperous and fulfilled life, the bank said.

Data indicate that Kirehe District is inhabited by 460,000 people, of which 394,160 have to pay Mutuelle de Santé contribution – as they should be covered by this scheme for healthcare. So far, 259,726 residents, representing 65 per cent, have paid the Mutuelle de Santé contribution for the next fiscal year 2023/2024, which will begin on July 1.

“Healthcare lies at the core of well-being, and Cogebanque deeply understands the significance of accessible and affordable medical services. Through our support of the healthcare insurance scheme in Kirehe District, we strive to bridge the gap and prioritise the personal and societal well-being of its residents. This commitment not only safeguards our customers but also fosters the holistic development and well-being of the entire community,” said Jules Sebagabo, Ag. Head of Retail at Cogebanque Plc.

Kirehe District Mayor, Bruno Rangira, appreciated Cogebanque Plc’s contribution, indicating that it is in line with supporting welfare for the needy, adding that the District normally reaches 94 per cent Mutuelle se Santé subscription.

“This will support us to achieve our 100 per cent Mutuelle de Santé coverage among our population, meaning that their safety will be ensured as they will not be worried about the situation where they would become ill and do not get healthcare because of lacking Mutuelle de Santé,” he observed.

Understanding the importance of accessible healthcare, Cogebanque Plc advised that it has committed itself to contributing towards the health and welfare of the communities it serves. By joining forces with the Kirehe District, the bank aims to alleviate the burden of healthcare expenses for those who are most in need.

Through the initiative, the bank and the district aim to enhance the overall health and well-being of the selected beneficiaries, reducing their vulnerability and promoting sustainable development within the community.

Since it started its operations in Rwanda, Cogebanque Plc has 28 branches in Rwanda, which help it to deliver financial services to its customers. Also, it has 36 Automated Teller Machines (ATMs), and 650 agents who support customers to open accounts and carry out financial transactions such as savings and withdrawals.

Moreover, the bank provides other services including Internet Banking, Mobile Banking, SchoolGEAR, Smart cash card, and cards by MasterCard (Debit, Credit and Prepaid), which is used in financial transactions including payments in 36 million locations worldwide.

SchoolGEAR is a web-based school management platform with capabilities including, but not limited to, student recruitment, evaluation and assessments, easing the processing of school fees and tuition payments, attendance, staff management, statistics, student behaviors, timetable, and library and asset management.
