Africa-Press – Rwanda. Dubai Port World Kigali, a key logistics platform in Masaka Sector, has been actively involved in community development efforts, including supporting education.

On February 28, the company visited Cyamongi Primary School in Masaka to distribute school kits as part of its ongoing commitment to empowering future generations.

This initiative aligns with DP World’s broader social responsibility programme which includes supporting local entrepreneurs, providing medical assistance, and contributing to sustainable development projects. By investing in the education and well-being of the local community, DP World is helping shape Rwanda’s brighter future.

The Managing Director of DP World, Shushant Mallik, highlighted the importance of supporting the local community, emphasising that as a company established in Masaka for over five years, they view it as their responsibility to contribute to local development.

He explained that their efforts aim to empower local entrepreneurs and enhance the education system to help build a prosperous future, underlining the long-term vision behind their contributions.

“By providing school kits, we understand that a solid learning foundation begins with the right tools. Whether it is taking notes in class, solving math problems, or staying hydrated throughout the day, these items will directly support the learning process. If students receive the right education and resources, it will help them prosper in the future,” he said.

He explained that these efforts will continue, with plans to expand the school kit distribution initiative to more schools, alongside other projects like the prosperity plan to support the community. The company is committed to supporting various sectors simultaneously, ensuring comprehensive development, he said.

“Multiple segments and sectors need to be developed simultaneously, so we’re progressing with various plans, including supporting the community in ways that will have a lasting impact,” he added.

Alfred Nduwayezu, the Executive Secretary of Masaka Sector, expressed gratitude for the company’s support, highlighting the positive impact on the community.

“We are truly grateful for their support and everything they have done for our community, and we hope they continue to help us achieve future goals. We look forward to their visits in the future,” he said.

He also pointed out that the company’s efforts inspire students to work harder and contribute to the community, encouraging parents to actively engage in their children’s education, and ensuring they use the resources provided to succeed.

“This support will motivate our students to work hard and improve the community. Parents must also ensure that children are studying well, as they have everything they need to contribute to a better future,” he noted.

Patrick Zimurinda, Director of EP Cyamongi in Rusheshe Cell, expressed his gratitude for the contributions provided by DP World, specifically acknowledging how valuable the donations are to the students due to the financial struggles many parents face.

“Most parents here cannot afford many of the things they have given us. Now, every student will have what they need, and we are truly thankful for the support,” he stated.

Agnes Musanabera, a representative of the parents who benefited from the support packages, thanked DP World for providing essential school supplies.

“Thank you very much for giving our students what they need. As parents, we are very happy. We had a water problem, but now with the water bottles, our children can keep water with them at school, which is great,” she said.

Sandrine Tumukunde, one of the students, also expressed her happiness and appreciation for the donations. Underlining how the donation directly benefits her and her fellow students, she said:

“I’m very happy for everything they gave us. They were thoughtful because they gave us things we need in our daily lives.”
