Africa-Press – Rwanda. The Minister of Education Joseph Nsengimana has told high school graduates from Imbuto Foundation’s Edified Generation Scholarship Programme that they stand at the centre of Rwanda’s development aspirations and must carry forward the nation’s cultural values, unity, and vision.

He delivered the message on Saturday, November 22, as the second cohort of Itorero “Imbuto Zitoshye” concluded their week-long civic and values-based training at the National Ubutore Development Centre in Nkumba, Burera District. The Itorero was organised by Imbuto Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of National Unity and Civic Engagement (MINUBUMWE).

“You are the youth on whom our country relies”

Minister Nsengimana praised the graduates for their discipline, openness to learning, and the dignity they showed throughout the training.

“You are youth with Rwandan cultural values. You have shown confidence that you are the generation our country can rely on to build the Rwanda we all desire,” he said. “Continue on this path. It will open doors of opportunity for you and enable you to serve your country with dignity.”

He reminded them of the expectations Rwanda places on its young citizens, urging them to maintain good conduct, work hard, and stay away from habits that harm their future.

He stressed the importance of loving and serving the country, studying diligently and applying the knowledge they have gained, in addition to being confident and disciplined, avoiding drugs and destructive behaviour, along with embracing technology and global opportunities.

Aligning with Rwanda’s Vision 2050

He further noted that the Ministry of Education is strengthening efforts to improve the quality of education, equipping learners with employable skills, and expanding technology and AI instruction in schools.

Imbuto Foundation’s Director General, Elodie Shami, commended MINUBUMWE and all partners involved in the programme.

“We will continue supporting programs that build knowledgeable, courageous youth grounded in Rwandan cultural values, young people who will build a stable Rwanda in line with Vision 2050,” he said.

Representing his peers, Valantin Ngamije Irakoze said the training broadened their understanding of Rwanda’s history, unity, cultural identity, and their responsibilities as young citizens.

The graduates also committed to volunteering, promoting reproductive health awareness, embracing the ‘Ndi Umunyarwanda spirit,’ and contributing to national developments.
