Africa-Press – Rwanda. RPF-Inkotanyi in Rubavu District on Saturday, June 28, handed over a new home to the family of Mutoni Ahishakiye who died during a crowd control incident at the party’s presidential campaign last year.

The incident, which happened on June 23, 2024, resulted in two deaths and 37 injuries, according to the Ministry of Local Government.

Rubavu District Mayor Prosper Mulindwa described 19-year-old Ahishakiye, who was an employee of a local mining company in Nyamyumba Sector, as a devoted RPF-Inkotanyi member who “dedicated her life to working for the country.”

“We lost her unexpectedly; she was the child who could help her mother for personal development,” said the mayor, as he presented the family with their new home.

“This is a testament that RPF does not leave anyone behind even during tragic situations.”

Ahishakiye’s mother, 51-year-old, Emerita Nyirandegeya, thanked the party members’ support, from burial arrangements to the new home and a farm.

“I had no farm, but now I’m going to grow beans, maize, and everything,” said an emotional Nyirandegeya, who has four children. She also extended her thanks to President Paul Kagame.

She further revealed that RPF-Inkotanyi has improved her life as she has access to electricity and relocated from risk area.

“I now have a sofa, electricity, and a good mattress with everything inside this new house, which I didn’t have before,” she added, ending in a dance.

Ismael Mugiraneza, a former colleague of Ahishakiye, expressed grief caused by the untimely death of young Ahishakiye.

“It was not easy to accept the news of her death, but we are happy the family is doing well now,” narrated Mugiraneza. “This is a good activity done by RPF-Inkotanyi.”

“I have known her since 2022 as a friend,” added Diane Mukeshimana, 28, Ahishakiye’s close friend. “She was always polite and a hard-working person.”

According to Rubavu District, the total support provided to the victim’s family surpasses Rwf32 million, covering the fully furnished home, small livestock, and a farm.
