Africa-Press – Rwanda. Five children who are undergoing rehabilitation at Gitagata Rehabilitation Centre, are set to be released after they passed Primary Leaving Examinations for the 2023-2024 academic year.
The children will be freed to pursue their secondary school studies, the National Rehabilitation Service (NRS) said on Wednesday, August 28.
They were among more than 200,000 candidates who sat for the Primary Leaving Examinations.
The NRS is working with the children’s families and local authorities to prepare their release, “so that they are able to continue their studies in schools where the National Examination and School Inspection Authority has placed them,” Jean Claude Kwitonda, the Communications Specialist at NRS told The New Times.
“They are all ready to be reintegrated into their families,” he said.
The Ministry of Education released the results of the primary and Ordinary Level national exams on Tuesday. More than 96 per cent of the candidates in primary passed the national exams.
The five children at the Bugesera-based rehab facility got 27, 19, 24, 23, and 19 aggregates out of 30, according to the NRS.
Kwitonda said the rehab centre has 146 pupils studying at other levels, from Primary One to Primary Five.
He added that the children study at a local school attended by their peers from surrounding communities.
