Former NBA player, French star join APR ahead of BAL 2025

Africa-Press – Rwanda. APR Basketball Club on Saturday, March 15, announced the signing of two American shooting guard Jordan McRae and French star Nobel Boungou Colo, ahead of Basketball Africa League (BAL) 2025 which tips off in May.

McRae, 33, previously played in the NBA. He was selected in the 2014 NBA Draft as the 58th overall pick by the San Antonio Spurs and has since played in the NBA and the NBA G League, where he set a former single-game scoring record of 61 points.

The 1.96m star has also competed in other top international leagues, including China with Beijing Ducks (2020–2021), France with Metropolitans 92 (2021–2022), Israel with Hapoel Tel Aviv (2022–2023), and Greece with AEK Athens (2023–2024).

Colo, 36, is a 2.02m Congolese-French player who can be deployed as a small forward or power forward. A former member of the French national basketball team, he has competed at the highest level in France, representing clubs such as Antibes Sharks and Metropolitans 92.

He has also played in Italy, where he won the Italian Basketball Cup with Fiat Torino.

Times Sport understands that the duo will only feature for APR in the Basketball Africa League. They won’t play in the Rwandan Basketball League but they will be around to train with their counterparts.

This season APR made a couple of signings including American point guard Antino Jackson and Rwandan shooting guard Jean-Victor Mukama who crossed over from domestic rivals Rwanda Energy Group (REG).
