Africa-Press – Rwanda. Rwandan amputee footballer Fidèle Gatete secured his second Turkish Amputee League 1 title, helping Mersin Amputee FC clinch the championship with a 1–1 draw against Anadolu Erciyes on Sunday at Mezitli Sentetik Stadium.

Heading into the final, a draw was enough for Mersin to seal the title, while their opponents needed a four-goal victory to snatch the crown.

Mersin made a bright start, taking an early lead through an own goal by Bilal Tolu. Anadolu Erciyes responded in the 36th minute, with Salih Bozdag finding the equaliser to keep their hopes alive.

Despite a late push from Anadolu Erciyes, the match ended 1–1, a result that secured the title for Mersin Amputee FC.

“It’s amazing to join a club and quickly win my second trophy. I thank the entire team for the effort, and I’m now looking forward to the Super League next,” Gatete told Times Sport.

Gatete previously lifted the Turkish League 1 title in 2025 alongside fellow Rwandan Jean Paul Ntambara at Malatya Spor Kulubu, helping the side earn promotion to the Turkish Amputee Super League.
