Africa-Press – Rwanda. The Minister of State for Regional Integration, Gen (Rtd) James Kabarebe, on Thursday, July 17, met with Kenyan President William Ruto as a special envoy from President Paul Kagame.
Kabarebe’s meeting with Ruto took place at the Kenyan State House in Nairobi.
“Our discussions covered a wide range of bilateral and regional issues, with a shared commitment to strengthening cooperation in peace and security, trade, and regional integration,” read a statement posted on X by President Ruto’s office on Thursday.
Ruto described the meeting as productive, noting that it reaffirmed the strong and growing ties between Kenya and Rwanda.
The two countries have cooperation across various sectors. During President Ruto’s two-day state visit to Rwanda in 2023, the two nations signed nine agreements aimed at enhancing collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
Among the agreements signed were six in the fields of correctional services, diplomatic training, ICT, health, youth, and cooperative development. In addition, three more agreements on education, agriculture, and gender, were signed.
