Lomami Brothers Join Rwanda Legends for Uganda Friendly

Africa-Press – Rwanda. Andre and Marcel Lomami, Haruna Niyonzima and Jimmy Mulisa are part of the squad of the former Amavubi legends team which will face Ugandan legends Flair 50 FC in a friendly showdown at Pele Stadium on June 21, 2025 kickoff at 10:00.

Organised and hosted by the by Former Amavubi Players Association (FAPA), the highly anticipated match will bring together the celebrated former players from Rwanda’s Amavubi and Uganda Cranes national teams.

The Rwandan legends team will be coached by former Amavubi captain Eugene Eric Murangwa, assisted by Thierry Hitimana, Sosthene Habimana and Thomas Higiro.

Among prominent names that Murangwa selected are Haruna Niyonzima who is now Rwanda’s most capped players. Others include current Amavubi assistant coach Eric Nshimiyimana, Jean-Baptiste Kayiranga, former goalkeepers Jean Claude Ndoli and Eric Bakame Ndayishimiye and Jimmy Mulisa.

Meanwhile, Uganda legends’ squad includes players like Vincent Kayizi and Daniel Wagaruka who plied their trade in Rwanda during their prime time.

The 35-player squad also includes Margret Akubulila Babirye and Jessica Namukwaya who served the Uganda Women national team.

While Amavubi legends team held their first training session at Kigali Pele Stadium on Thursday, June 19, the Ugandan legends team arrives in Kigali on Friday, June 20.
