Africa-Press – Rwanda. In a forecast released on September 10, the agency indicated that between September 11 and 20, rainfall ranging between 20 and 110 millimetres will be recorded across the country. This is higher than the long-term average for the same period, which usually ranges between 0 and 60 millimetres.

Rainfall is expected on three to five days during this period, depending on the location. Many areas will receive rain in the early days and again between September 15 and 20.

The agency said the expected increase will mainly be influenced by the advection of the Congo air mass and other local weather conditions.

The start of the September–December rainy season is expected in Western, Northern and Southern provinces, excluding the Amayaga region.

Temperatures will remain within the normal range for this time of the year, with daytime highs projected between 18°C and 30°C, while night-time lows will vary from 8°C to 18°C. Wind speeds will range from moderate to strong, between 4 and 12 metres per second.

Rainfall of between 80 and 110 millimetres is forecast in Rubavu District, most parts of Nyabihu and Musanze, western Burera, Ngororero, Nyamagabe, Nyaruguru, eastern Nyamasheke, as well as northern and eastern Rutsiro.

Rainfall between 60 and 80 millimetres is expected in the rest of the Western Province, central Nyamagabe and Nyaruguru, western Nyagatare, remaining parts of Burera, northern Gicumbi, Rulindo and Gakenke, western and northern Muhanga, and western Ruhango.

Amounts between 40 and 60 millimetres are projected in Gatsibo, most of Northern and Southern Provinces (excluding Amayaga), northern Kigali, Rwamagana, the remaining parts of Nyagatare, and western Kayonza. Other areas will receive lighter rains ranging between 5 and 10 millimetres.

On temperatures, the highest levels between 28°C and 30°C are expected in Bugarama plain, Amayaga region, Bugesera, City of Kigali, much of Ngoma and Rwamagana, western, southern and northern Kirehe, western Kayonza, and parts of Muhanga, Gatsibo and Nyagatare.

Slightly lower maximums of 26°C to 28°C will be felt in Gatsibo, Kayonza, Kirehe, Rwamagana, Muhanga, Ruhango, Nyanza, Gisagara, most of Huye, eastern Nyaruguru and Nyamagabe, Ngororero, Nyabihu, southern and western Gakenke, southern Rulindo and Gicumbi, and parts of Rusizi, Nyamasheke, Rutsiro, Rubavu and Karongi.

The coolest daytime temperatures, between 18°C and 20°C, are expected in eastern Rubavu and in the western and northern parts of Nyabihu and Musanze.

At night, minimum temperatures will range between 8°C and 18°C. The lowest readings of 8°C to 10°C are forecast for western and northern Nyabihu, western Musanze, Nyamagabe, Nyaruguru, eastern Nyamasheke and Rusizi. Warmer conditions of 16°C to 18°C are expected in central Kigali, Nyagatare, Ruhango and eastern Kirehe.
