Africa-Press – Rwanda. Prime Minister Justin Nsengiyumva has arrived in Bangui, Central African Republic (CAR), to represent President Paul Kagame at the inauguration of President Faustin-Archange Touadéra.

The inauguration ceremony is scheduled to take place on March 30, marking the start of Touadéra’s new term in office.

Touadéra, 68, secured a third term in January. He got 78 percent of the vote, while his main challenger, Anicet-Georges Dologuélé, received 13.5 percent.

Ahead of the election, Touadéra, a mathematics professor by training, campaigned on a platform centered on peace, security, and infrastructure development in the country.

Rwanda and the Central African Republic maintain close bilateral ties, particularly in the area of security cooperation.

Rwanda is the largest troop contributors to the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) since 2014. At the request of Bangui, Rwanda has also deployed troops under a bilateral agreement.

Beyond security, the two countries have expanded cooperation through agreements covering defence, mining, oil, and investment promotion.
