Africa-Press – Rwanda. South Sudan’s Radio Jonglei has been reopened after its Executive Director wrote to apologize to the national security service after authorities in Jonglei state ordered its closure.
In August, the radio station was shut down by members of National Security Service (NSS) after Jonglei authorities accused the station of being used by protest organizers to air out their views against the government.
No legal process was done by the authorities. According to the Executive Director of the station Tijwok Awet, one of the staff had interviewed one of the organizers of the now failed nation-wide protest angering authorities in Bor.
“We went and apologized to the authorities and we made a commitment that anything that would bring problem and insecurity and all these things that are not good for the society we will not broadcast it again,” Tijwog said on Saturday, according to Eye Radio.
