Africa-Press – Rwanda. Rwanda Development Board (RDB) has teamed up with Alibaba to organise the 6th edition of the Africa’s Business Heroes (ABH) Summit and Grand Finale, which will take place on March 14-15 at the Kigali Convention Centre.
The competition is sponsored by the Jack Ma Foundation and Alibaba Group Philanthropy to shine a spotlight on African entrepreneurs making a positive impact in their communities.
Hosted every year since 2019, the event awards 10 finalists in each edition are selected to compete in the Grand Finale.
Since its start, ABH has been dedicated to strengthening the African entrepreneurial ecosystem. Over a ten-year period, the initiative plans to recognise 100 business heroes across Africa, awarding them grants, training, and mentorship to help scale up their ventures.
Top 10 finalists share a prize pool of $1.5 million in grants ranging from $100,000 to $300,000. The winner takes home $300,000; the first runner-up and second runner-up take home $250,000 and $150,000 respectively.
All other 7 finalists take home $100,000. An additional $100,000 is allocated for global immersion training.
More than 1,000 attendees from various African countries are expected in Kigali for the event, which will feature keynote speeches by industry experts, TED-style experience-sharing sessions, podcast-style interviews, expert debates, and interactive workshops.
