Africa-Press – Rwanda. Moussa Gatera’s defensive strategy worked to perfection as his Rutsiro FC side travelled to Huye Stadium to hold Mukura Victory Sports to a goalless draw in Wednesday’s league encounter.

The match was initially due to take place on March 15 but match officials decided to postpone it after Huye Stadium pitch was flooded due to heavy downpour.

Fresh from their stunning 1-0 win over league leaders Rayon Sports on Saturday, a win could have moved Mukura Victory Sports to 3rd position with 36 points but they were held at their own back as a single point moved them to 4th place with 34 points.

It was a game of few chances as Gatera devised strategy to hold the rampaging Mukura VS attacking trio of Boateng Mensah, Destin Malanda and Samson Oladosu.

Mukura started well as they piled pressure on Rutsiro FC hoping for an early lead but the visitors’ defence marshaled around former Mukura skipper Alex Ngirimana thwarted most of their efforts.

Goalkeeper Arnold Matumele was also at his best as he pulled a number of brilliant saves to keep Rutsiro FC in the game.

In the second department of the game, Rutsiro FC sat deep and soaked the pressure. They tried to hit Mukura on the counterattacks on different occasions.

Yves Habimana, Jonas Mumbere and Jonas Makola could penetrate Mukura’s backline Abdul Jalilu, Abdoul Ishimwe and Chris Rushema as they held their might at the back to keep their 3rd clean sheet in a row.

Mukura VS will next travel to Kigali to face Police FC on Sunday, April 6, while Rutsiro will visit Musanze FC at Ubworoherane Stadium a day earlier.
