Starting Thursday, September 2 through September 22, the curfew in Rwanda’s capital, Kigali, will be from 10 pm – 4 am, with all businesses required to close by 9 pm.Movements have been prohibited between 9 pm – 4 am, in the rest of the country, with businesses required to close by 8 pm.
However, in the districts of Burera, Gicumbi, Kirehe, Ngoma, Nyagatare, Nyamasheke, Nyaruguru and Rwamagana, with high COVID-19 incidence, curfew will apply between 8 pm – 4 am, with businesses closing by 7 pm.
Prime Minister Edouard Ngirente also announced that events and gatherings such as concerts, festivals, exhibitions among others, shall resume gradually for vaccinated and tested participants.
Gaming activities shall also resume gradually. The Ministry of Trade and Industry will provide detailed guidelines on that specific industry.
Restaurants, church services and other physical meetings shall continue to operate with a 30 percent occupancy limit.
However, bars will remain closed.
